The author's story is told along with lessons she learned during the process of her divorce. She is open with her feelings during the divorce which will I am sure help others in knowing they are not alone. While I myself have not gone through a divorce, I felt I gained some important information in how to help others. Tami's way of writing also had me crying and smiling and laughing along with it. Becoming Unmarried is full of practical advice for the woman who is blindsided by a husband who says, "I want a divorce." My divorce was finalized ten years ago, and I wish I would have had this book to read while I was going through the agonizing months preceding the final decree. It's a difficult time when the person who has been your partner, the one you turned to in a crunch, becomes your adversary. Tami's advice of finding your own lawyer, going to counseling, dealing with loneliness and accepting help from family and friends is right on.
