Born with magic in a world where it's not only feared but outlawed, wielders are left with three options...run, hide, or fight.

Darkness stirs in the north. War is coming, the likes of which hasn't been seen since the time of the Khul Hordes. How will humanity fight back when those with the ability to do so are being exterminated?

In the east, when the Black Watch arrive in the quiet town of Easthaven, Ty's family is forced to reveal a secret that threatens not only his life, but the lives of everyone around him...including Lyessa. But she has a secret of her own.

In the south, armed with nothing but his sense of humor, Ferrin attempts the impossible and vows to escape his imprisonment within the White Tower. But he can't do it alone.

And in the west, as the throne comes under attack and creatures of magic are once more being released, Ayrion is forced to use his TWIN blades to keep the kingdom from falling.

When the world balances on the edge of a sword, even the most unlikely of heroes can make a difference...

...if they are willing to try.

Grab the first installment in this new epic fantasy saga filled with magic and monsters, sword and sorcery, heroes, villains, and those in between.

The White Tower The Aldoran Chronicles Book 1 eBook Michael Wisehart

This had all the elements of the usual sort of fantasy tale and although it didn't transport me away, I enjoyed it . I love Terry Brooks and many other fantasy writers that Mr. Wiseheart has been compared to so I thought I'd give it a try. I really, really enjoyed the free prequel, Shackled, and so bought The White Tower. It was a good book and kept my interest for the most part. I grew tired of the endless torture scenes and felt the same point could've been made with far fewer scenes. I skipped over quite a bit of the battle scenes, again I just got impatient reading them and wanted to get back to the story line. I thought there was a lot of excellent character development in the book. I was interested in the magic system the author has created and wanted to learn more. there were a couple of twists to add some spice to the story. I like that there are many strong women roles although some of the male/female characters felt too simplistic. It's definitely worth a read for fantasy enthusiasts. Be sure to read Shaclkled first to get some background.

The White Tower The Aldoran Chronicles Book 1 eBook Michael Wisehart Reviews

I was, more than anything else, impressed with the diversity of the characters in this book. I was able to see the land of Aldor through the eyes of men and women from all parts of society, some young and others old. Many of those people are magic wielders, each with uniquely defined powers. These are set alongside an array of prisoners, soldiers, rulers, and an assassin, just to mention a few.

The flow of the story telling is another strong point. The author balances the book with just the right amount of history and the perfect amount of framing for future events. He does this without ever loosing focus on the active narrative, which is filled with conflict and engaging storylines involving heroes and villains whose decisions propel events in a believable way.

Though the book is far from short, it never felt like any of the plot elements were simply taking up space. I am sometimes disappointed when it feels like an author takes on a big story but simply strings together a series of ultimately meaningless events that spin off in different directions without resolution. That was never the case here. There were a few scenes of detailed torture that wore on me, and at other times made me cringe, but in general the book kept me interested throughout.

I can say without exaggerating that The White Tower has one of the best qualities of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy the deep realization of an incredibly well-imagined world. You only need to take one look at the world map to see just how much has been created and how much there is to explore. But, written in a more personal style than anything you would find in Tolkien, The White Tower was always easy to follow, and in that sense was more modern in its approach. You will want to read this book if you enjoy long, deep stories steeped in the traditions of great epic fantasy.
This book is so engaging and pulled me right from the very first sentence!

I started reading while mistakingly believing it's just another fantacy book only to get the surprise of the well thought plot, well developed characters, detailed area map, social, and political views and conflicts that felt so real.

Michael Wisehart has proven himself to be a gifted author not only because his book captivates you from the very first sentence which makes it hard to put down, but also because his storyline is so vivid you'd hope you'd see it on the big screen.

I'd recommend this book for anyone who likes fantasy novels as this one isn't like any you might have read.

Michael Wisehart is definitely now on top of my list of To Follow authors. Can't wait to get his next
I stumbled upon this book when it was in its second round of beta reading. I had no idea what I was getting into when I started reading. And kept reading.

From the very first chapter, Wisehart draws the reader in and leaves you wanting more. The characters are believable and diverse with different inner voices that make the reading fun. I really felt like I was there with them and was rooting for the good ones and hated, but understood, the bad ones. With each new character introduced, you fall a little more in love with the world and the way the book flows is genuine and authentic.

My favorite character by far is Ferrin...though his beginnings in the book have some gruesome torture involved that made me cringe...you can't help but fall for him as he keeps himself sane..sorta..throughout his ordeals. I'm also super pumped to know these characters are headed next. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Magic, intrigue, family ties, romance, epically written battle scenes, solid characters, and more are found in this book! I would definitely recommend it if you are a fan of great writing, a fantastic story, and an addict for getting lost in other worlds.
If you, like me, have been searching for an epic fantasy series to replace Robert Jordan's, "The Wheel of Time," this book is the beginning of just such an adventure. I absolutely and totally was mesmerized by this book...everything about it is superbly crafted. From the world building, to the characters' development, to the quality of the literary style, and the way the dialog is appropriate to the totality of the work, it is simply outstanding. All the characters are multi-dimensional, not just the central ones. Male and female characters both have strong, complex personalities in which one quickly becomes invested. The book is long, but the action moves along so smoothly that you find yourself at the end much too quickly. I am looking forward with great anticipation to the next book in the series and hope I can look forward to at least one per year for many years to come!
If you love exceptionally well-written fantasy, then this book is a must read for you.
