In trying to explain the first book in the series along with this one to my hubby, he gave me a blank stare & cracked up laughing. So I'm forcing him to read it. This is not my typical genre, but damn if this isn't one of the best series I've read in a long time! I adored Red and couldn't wait for Seth Wolf's story, but it took me awhile to get to it. Once I did, I have been entranced from page 1.
The way Ms Serine has created this dark world filled with angry "Tales" was brilliant. Finding out that Cinderella & Prince Charming are manipulative, abusive society jerks & that Little Bo Peep is a fairy dust addict stirred my imagination & made me appreciate a ton of fairy tales from my childhood in a whole different way. Of course, this is a whole other side of Seth "big bad" Wolf and Cinderella's fairy godmother Lavender. The two of them have immediate chemistry & their connection is instantaneous & very hot. Both are very damaged and misunderstood Tales who are used to being persecuted by the other Tales. They had some steamy sex scenes, sprinkled throughout, and Lavender's brother Puck (a man dedicated to continuing the exploits from A Midsummer's Night Dream) also wove exoticness in every scene he was in.
In short, this series may SOUND a bit weird, but it's worth delving into to see what happens after "happily ever after" has come and gone and what the Tales are forced to do when they now live upon the ordinaries. Its really nothing short of brilliant.
I love this series! It's so clever. I love what the author has chosen to do with some of these characters by putting a twist on their backstories. I really enjoyed this book, although I liked the first book a little bit better (but not enough to affect the star rating). Lavender and Seth are two tormented but strong characters and it was great watching them get their happily ever after. The plot was exciting although a little predictable and the romance felt a little rushed given that this was the first time that Lavender and Seth had met (unlike with Tess and Nathan who had worked together). However, none of these things detracted from my enjoyment of the book. I Am very much looking forward to book 3. Great series!
I really enjoyed Red, the first Transplanted Tale, but something about this one just spoke to me more. Lavender's softer than Red and this reads more like a romance (with tons of mystery thrown in) so I think that just fit my interests better. I did enjoy how the story flowed seamlessly from Red to The Better to See You. I'm looking forward to the 3rd Tale.
I really enjoyed "Red" and was hoping #2 Lavender's tale would be as interesting. Alas, no; it is not. In fact, I found Lavender tiresome although the ending with Vlad was something of a surprise. It's nice that Seth got his happy ending, however.
Don't let the cover fool you, it's not like other romance novels ( ie a series of love scenes with character and plot development slipped in here and there). This was a wonderful sequel and addition to the Transplanted Tales Series. The writing is great and keeps you the edge of your seat. Character development is even better than the first book. I usually predict endings of mysteries, but I didn't see the twists and turns in this story at all. I can't wait for the next book. Pre-Order NOW!!!
I loved this book - ordered it as soon as I finished the author's first book, Reds, and now I'm anxiously awaiting the August release of her third book. I call it a Fractured Fairy Tale because it so beautifully conjures up characters from nursery rhymes of our childhood and puts them in an adult situation playing out a story between "Tales" and "Ordinaries" and it kept me entranced. I hardily recommend it to viewers that can't get enough of Once Upon A Time - same type of wonderful fantasy and great story telling.
I enjoyed this as much as Red.
This is such an original and refreshing storyline. I am starting to really get invested in the characters. I did take a little longer to warm up to Violet, but by the end I was completely bespelled by her.
Seth was great, he really came into his own,I had been a little worried about him being a bit of a woe is me type, but he came through surprisingly well.
Loved the glimpses of Red an Nate. It was nice catching up with them. The books are well written and have some good laugh out loud moments. This author is rapidly becoming a favorite.
